Introducing Quest Reporter : Appendix A: Configuring Quest Reporter : Setting up the Console

Setting up the Console
Prior to setting up the console
A Microsoft® SQL Server™ 2005 or later database must be set up using the Database Setup Wizard.
In order to view non-western characters on English computers in Reporter, the appropriate changes must be made to the Region and Language Settings in the control panel. Reboot the computer after making the changes.
For Windows XP and Windows Server 2003, "Install files for East Asian language" on the Languages tab, and set the "Language for non-Unicode programs" option on the Advanced tab to the language of the characters you want to see displayed.
For Vista, Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008, use the "Change system locale" button on the Administrative tab to change the language to the characters you want to see displayed.
Before you begin generating reports, you must add the objects that you want to gather data from.
Every organization’s network is different. Some networks are large and contain many domains, while others may have only one. Reporter allows you to set up the console, so you can view only those parts of your network on which you want to report. After you add a domain or IP subnet to the console, you can expand it and set options to retrieve data and generate reports.
You can also display network objects by creating an object set. For more information on object sets, see Creating Object Sets.
